adding a additional member to a credit card and credit report
Question: How does adding a additional member to a credit card can effect the primary member’s credit score? The additional member has no way of accessing the credit card. Please give me a reply ASAP. Thanks in advance.
Answer: About a year ago I added my two daughters to two of my credit cards because they can both drive and don’t mind doing shopping chores for me. Nothing happened to my credit score. In fact, for some reason my credit score jumped from 804 to 817 in October. As long as you pay your bills on time, there shouldn’t be a problem, unless of course the person you want to add runs up your bill and causes you to go over your credit limit–that could cause problems. Neither card asked for my daughters’ ss#’s, when I put them on, so if you are trying to help someone with a bad credit rating it should still be OK, but they won’t benefit from your good credit and their bad credit shouldn’t affect your rating. I couldn’t swear to that though, because in my case my daughters had no credit rating–one was 15 and the other was 16. Hope this helps.
