Bad credit rating
Question: How does the credit system work in the UK? How did the bank >find out about the ticket? I thought credit bureaus were a US- >only thing, and that they were banned in most foreign countries..
Answer: No sir, there is a system in place where once a debt is proven (as in my wife’s daughters case as she did not defend the summons) a County Court Judgement is made against the debtor. There are two major credit rating agencies in the UK who pick up on all of these judgements. I think it is fair to say that all of the banks and credit card companies use at least one of these agencies for a reference, when someone applies for credit, credit card, bank account or a loan.
Hey presto…bad credit rating.
