Will this result in bad credit?

Question: If you are worried about it, you can call them up and arrange a bank >transfer on Tuesday. Some companies charge for this service, but the fee >is almost certainly less than a late fee, and won’t affect your credit. >If you plead a sob story about not realizing how short the grace period >was, you may even talk them into waiving the transfer fee this time.

Answer: The first (and only) time I was ever late on my Visa payment, I was assessed a big late-fee charge. I think it was $25 or something. I called to see if there was anything that could be done about that, and there was an option right on the phone menu to request that the fee be removed. It was supposedly a one-time forgiveness of the fee; I don’t know if it would have worked to do in another month because I wasn’t ever late again. It’s just an FYI for anyone who has ever inadvertantly missed the deadline…call and see if you can get that fee wiped off.

Of course, the best thing is to not be late at all. Now I pay my credit card bill online and that way I don’t have to worry about mailing it a week in advance so it will be posted on time.
